Actionable Cold Email Tip
This past summer, I was booking a ton of meetings for my business.
I was generating 20-30 discovery calls per month but there was a problem.
I wasn’t closing at my usual 30% for cold traffic. It was closer to 15%, half the usual rate.
So I did a sales process analysis and realized I had a few huge holes.
This was a period where I was going through a messaging pivot. I had been running performance based offers and was transitioning into a monthly subscription model.
I would run my discovery, pitch if they were a good fit and then when we started to talk pricing the deal fell apart.
Wondering why, I looked back at my sales call recordings and bang, lightbulb went off.
It became clear they were expecting performance pricing. This lead to me realize my my offer messaging wasn't aligned with my landing page or sales process.
My landing page, most SEO data and sales assets were mentioning performance based pricing.
This was confusing to prospects since most were coming on the call expecting performance based pricing.
Once I updated my messaging to subscription model pricing across the customer journey, calls immediately became warmer, prospects became more qualified and my close rate increased.
This is the power of messaging.
So if you’re finding trouble converting your cold leads, take a look at your messaging and make sure it’s aligned with your offer.
If it is great, just keep pushing volume. If not, then review your sales calls and uncover the top 5 most common objections.
Then create content around these objections and distribute via outbound messaging and socials.
Update your messaging across your landing page, social profile, and sales assets to make sure it’s consistent across your customer journey.
Then, test and iterate until you’re closing at 30% or better.

This applies for >clients >team members >family. Lack of alignment is like cracking in the foundation. It might work for a bit, but ultimately doomed to fail. Get on the same page by communicating your needs and expectations. If you are not direct in communicating your needs, do not expect another to anticipate your needs. The same goes for your clients. They should know what they’re getting into, what the expected outcomes are, if they’re being met and if not, what is being done about it to get back on track.
