Actionable Cold Email Tip
Strangers are skeptical. They don’t know you or trust you. You could have the best service in the world that gets them a 1000x return, and they still won’t believe you because you’re just a rando from the internet.
The easiest way to overcome a skeptical buyer is prove you can get the results you claim. How do you prove it? Simple, you need evidence.
There are basically infinite ways to do this, but it all starts with the old adage of ‘show, don’t tell’.
Now, some of you are new and don’t have a lot of proof. This means you’ll have to make a claim, provide a risk reversal in the form of a guarantee and likely work on performance.
This is ok, it’s how everyone starts.
If you do have track record, then you’ll have to show your cold audience you’re not just capable, but overwhelmingly competent and ‘the guy’ in your space.
Start by collecting social proof and plastering it all over you online presence. This means your website, social profile, sales documents.
Collect 5-star reviews from review websites like G2 and Trustpilot.
Gather positive feedback from clients. This is as simple as taking screenshots from Slack channel or emails.
And here’s the holy grail of social proof. Create a case study video with your client covering their situation before, during and after the transformation. Post it on your website.
Ideally, you run a live interview and record the conversation. This is best because it’s the least likely to be fabricated. Remember, the key is to show the transformation.
Think of this like the B2B equivalent of the before and after weight loss photo. This has been used by every single gym in the history of time because it proves that if you do the work, you get the results.
The same lessons can be applied for B2B services.
So, when you’re trying to get better results from your outbound review your profile.
Put yourself in the shoes of someone who has never met you or heard from you before.
Does your profile feel trustworthy? If not, add more social proof.
It will help convert more leads into opportunities that actually turn into revenue.
