Last day of the year

and why I'm creating a Misogi

Hey there, it’s Isaac from Leads to Earnings. Welcome to the newsletter.

(est. 3 minute read)

Today I will be going over:

  • Not so contrarian steps for a big 2025

  • Action taking mental framework

  • I will also share a few cold email links and tips.

Hopefully you enjoy it.

Actionable Cold Email Tip

Today is the last day of 2024, but you know that already.

If you’ve done even a bit of social media scrolling, you’re probably seeing a lot of noise poo-pooing new years goal setting.

I’m not sure why sh*tting on goal setting has become so popular. Perhaps, it’s the fact that people like to be contrarian because it get’s better engagement on social. Perhaps, it’s because most people who set goals at the beginning of the year drop their new habit by the third week of January.

Anyone who thinks goal setting is a futile effort has already lost the game. This mindset assumes that big life changing things just happen. I believe big achievements only happen when you plan them.

No matter your success, failure and everything in between this year, January 1 marks an opportunity for a fresh start. A blank slate. It’s a chance to reflect on how you really want things to go over the next 12 months. It’s a chance to be aggressive and proactively attack the new year.

I’m not going soapbox you and tell you you need to do xyz thing to be successful in 2025. Only YOU know what you REALLY want out of life.

Your compass is your own.

I can’t tell you how to read yours, but I can give you some insights into how I’m calibrating my internal compass for 2025. Hopefully you find some value and you can apply these to your own year end reflections.

Here’s what I’m doing with my blank slate of 2025:

The first thing I’m doing is reviewing my belief systems, thoughts, actions and skills across all areas of life business, relationships, health and finances.

90% of all success is mindset - in other words, if you don’t mentally believe you are THE guy, then you will never break through the plateau when it inevitably show’s its face.

I actively work on my mindset every single day. For me, this is a constant work in progress because I know self limiting beliefs are the biggest killer of success. Period.

Once I understand my current state, I prioritize my best habits to continue doing them, remove any bad habits preventing me from progress and then adding high leverage habits that align with my compass.

I apply this framework to each of the big life categories.

Then I set a goal. I back into the goal by understanding the inputs required to hit the goal, then schedule out the inputs to nail it. Simple as that.

You can stop here and have a fully fleshed out banger of a year.

But here’s a bonus and something I’m starting now.

I’m creating my Misogi. This is a concept I learned from Jesse Itzler, an entrepreneur, ultramarathoner and best selling author.

Historically, it is a Japanese purification ritual that involves washing the body and cleansing the mind.

In contemporary terms, its a challenge with the goal of doing something that seems impossible, with a 50% chance of success.

The idea is that by pushing yourself outside your comfort zone, you will redefine what is possible in life (which is always way more than we realize).

The challenge sets out to help gain confidence, courage, and optimism - not to mention bag a bada$s achievement.

The reason why I’m doing a Misogi is when I’m looking back at my year on December 31, 2025, I will have at least 1 year defining challenge attempted (hopefully completed) and a basket of new habits I can lean on.

These are my current principles for a good life.

I’ve already picked my misogi, put it on my calendar and have a little head start on the training regime.

If you need any inspiration, feel free to drop me a line and I can share more about what I’m doing.

That’s a wrap for the year. Chat to you in 2025.

Useful Bits

  • Tweet of the Day: (link)

  • Quote of the week: “The road to success and the road to failure are almost exactly the same.” —Colin R. Davis

  • Quick bite-sized pointer: I used to struggle prioritizing my day. Now I decide by considering 2nd & 3rd order consequences. If I do x then y, happens which leads to z. Training to think like this helps get off the hamster wheel of busy, task doing and into the mindset of big leverage action taking.
