How to Automate Your Outbound

Actionable Cold Email Tip
I’ve been speaking with B2B business owners who want to automate their outbound, but are tired of spraying and praying to their audience.
Volume is usually a good solution to a lead gen problem, but daily deliverability changes make that strategy less effective.
Not to mention, this approach is adding more noise to the inbox.
So what I’ve been doing is building out automated workflows for my clients. This means focusing on intent to buy vs simple ideal customer profile targeting.
In this case we’ll be talking about website traffic.
This website traffic flow will track your website visitors, score them for fit so you can do outreach to them with your offer.
You can assume that since someone is looking at your website and they’re in your ICP, there’s a good chance they could be somewhere in the buying cycle.
Now it’s not 100% guaranteed they are going to buy today, or even tomorrow, but the fact that they’re snooping around on your site is a small smoke signal.
And where there’s smoke there’s fire. Use this smoke as a signal to outreach and nurture your ideal fit prospects until you get a yes or a no.
Once I started implementing this approach, I’ve been adding at least 1 interested lead to the pipeline daily.
Here’s how you can do it yourself:
Setup RB2B or Clearbit (now owned by HubSpot). This will be as simple as adding a bit of code to your landing page.
Setup your ideal customer profile inside the tool. Depending on your plan level, you can identify visitor level data. If you’re on a lower plan with HubSpot, you might only be able to see company level visitor data.
Either way, you’ll start seeing your website traffic come through.
I recommend starting your outreach to the people actually looking at your site.
If you only have company level data, that is ok too. What you’ll do then is send your visitor data into Clay via webhook for enrichment.
Enrich the company level data and score it based on fit.
Then create a people level table with ideal fit titles. Enrich this data for valid email addresses.
Once you have your valid contact information, use Clay’s Smartlead integration to push directly into a campaign.
Turn the campaign on.
Watch your interested replies come through.
As with any campaign, you’ll have to tweak your messaging until you create an angle that converts but this workflow framework should get you started.
