Actionable Cold Email Tip
To get the results you know you’re capable of you must go to the edge of ‘possible.’ Once you’re there, don’t stop. Take one more step (or 20) to break through to your new limit.
This has pretty much been my experience in business building, growth and any meaningful life pursuit.
You seem to try one thing, then another and then when you feel like you’ve done most everything you can, you finally make a breakthrough.
It’s like plateauing at your max weight at the gym. You keep pushing and one day, you finally get to that next weight class.
A similar situation happened this week with a B2B client.
Let me start by saying they have a good offer and strong case studies that show how they helped a client go from x to y.
We’ve been working together for a few months and got a few solid meetings from jump.
Good news, they ended up closing deals from those initial wins.
Bad news, once the glow of initial success faded, the pipeline seemed to dry up.
I was determined to prove it wasn’t luck.
So we dug in. We tried new targeting and got even more focused. We tested new messaging.
We were building out weekly campaigns, pushing out fundamentally sound campaigns, but it just wasn’t showing up on the scoreboard for created opportunities.
Then something amazing happened.
We launched a new campaign and within the hour we started rolling in positive replies.
For this specific campaign with about 1,000 valid leads, we’re seeing 1 interested reply for every 110 prospects contacted.
This was after we tested over 20 different offers across 4 other campaigns and 2 angles started working.
I tell you this for 2 reasons. The first: if you don’t see success immediately, it’s not because cold outbound doesn’t work for you, you probably haven’t yet found your message market fit.
The second, just keep testing until you find something that works. And then once you find something that works, keep innovating your messaging.
Action items for you today are simple:
Do the work until you figure it out. Create a feedback loop that works for you. Determine each step in the process and identify the bottleneck preventing you from achieving your goal. Solve for the bottleneck. Review results and repeat.
It’s as simple as that.
