  • Lagging indicators in any system and how to address

Hopefully you enjoy it.

Actionable Cold Email Tip

Cold email does not have to be complicated - despite what your latest favorite fly by night internet guru tells you.

There are more outbound gurus popping up every day with increasingly complex workflows.

I even saw a post recently where the self proclaimed expert walked through a complicated miro board with a dozen “hacks” saying these are all the things you need to do to get cold email to work.

Here’s the thing: yes, you absolutely need a fundamental understanding of direct response copywriting, a targeted list and a good social presence.

You do not need to hack your way to success though.

By focusing on the highest leverage components of your cold email campaign, your offers, value propositions and targeting, you’re 90% of the way to consistent results.

Once you dial in your big levers, all you need is a process that focuses on consistent testing, data collection and analysis.

In short, build your list, create a campaign focused on testing 3-5 value props and then launch. Review your reply data, iterate on the value props that generate positive replies and get rid of any that do not generate replies. Keep testing until you hit a lead to interested reply ratio of 1 to 100.

This will help you get consistent 1% improvements day over day and year over year.

Think about it like this: if you’re improving by 1% every single day, then in one year you will be at least 365% better than last year (this doesn’t even include compounding interest).

After a year of iteration, you will certainly be better than 99% of businesses doing cold email.

To help you fast-track your progress and start writing cold emails that get replies in 2025, I created a 19-minute training that walks you through my cold email copywriting and testing process step by step.

By the end of this video, you’ll have a copy-and-paste template you can use to generate more qualified opportunities with decision-makers in your niche.

Useful Bits

  • Tweet of the Day: (link)

  • Quote of the week: “People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it.” — George Bernard Shaw

  • Quick bite-sized pointer: There's lag time when making any changes to a system. You might update your targeting and copy today, but not see it materialize in more meetings for a week or more revenue for a month. Determine the result you want, then back into the changes you need based on data.
