Actionable Cold Email Tip
If you don't think AI can write an email, think again.
I've booked numerous meetings this week with AI-enabled cold email.
Better yet, I even got a prospect reply saying it was one of the best cold emails they’ve ever received.
I’ve heard so many people shout from the rooftops: “I CAN TELL WHEN IT’S AI” “I WILL NEVER USE AI TO OUTSOURCE MY COPYWRITING” “AI DOESN’T WORK’
Sounds like a skill issue to me.
My takeaway from those negative projections is that they’re either afraid of AI taking their job, they haven’t yet figured out how to prompt or they’re simply just not innovative enough.
These models are getting smarter by the day and at an exponential rate. Comparing the outputs from a year ago compared to today is night and day.
So… let me get off my AI soapbox. If you’re even remotely interested in leveraging AI in your outbound process, here’s a few thoughts on how to do that.
Remember, the difference between winning and losing with cold email is nuance.
It takes deep understanding of your prospect's pains, fears and ambitions to create an offer that converts.
This is a fancy way of saying you need to do market research. For us, this is great news because research functions are one of AI’s best use cases today.
Here’s a prompt for you to use (remember the more detail you give, the better your output):
“You are an outbound expert that operates a {COMPANY NICHE} company.
{INDUSTRY} {COMPANY NAME} works with {TARGET MARKET} to {END RESULT GENERATED FOR TAM}.
We are looking to find product market fit with our service offering, and want to craft outbound messaging that resonates deeply with our target market prospects.
Please answer the following questions to help us uncover this messaging:
1. How does {TAM} benefit from your offer?
2. What pain points does {TAM} have that’s relevant to your offer?
3. What potential unique advantages does {TAM} receive from your offer?
4. What specific result would {TAM} want from your offer?”
Why this works: this research will give you a great start on messaging. Apply your learnings to your email copy.
Then, test 1-5 offer variations to see what sticks.
And once you find what works, you can make it even better.
Most people will find a winning angle and figure that is the best they can do.
Instead double down on what's working and keep testing new offers.
This will make sure your messaging is never stale and you’re always improving your results.
