Actionable Cold Email Tip
Here are 5 quick ways to improve your cold email results:
The two things to test at the beginning are (1) value proposition and (2) lead list. Get a statistically significant data set by sending at least 1,000 emails per value prop. Focus on just these two variables and don’t sweat testing your subject lines or calls to action. Test 3-10 value propositions to find the winning angle.
Target 1 interested reply for every 200-300 leads and a lead to meeting ratio of 1:1,000. This means you’re converting 20% of your interested replies into a meeting. Once you’ve found your winning value props, optimize your interested lead ratio by A/B testing different copy, subject lines, CTAs, and personalization. Once you’ve nailed this ratio, you’re ready to scale up your campaign.
Do not overcomplicate your sending infrastructure. Buy 30 domains, and add 2 inboxes per domain. Start with 50% on Google and 50% on Microsoft. Warm up for 14 days minimum and use Smartlead to send. If you’re sending 15 emails per inbox per day, then you’ll have 900 emails per day of daily sending capacity. Based on an interested reply rate of 1:300, you should be getting 3 interested leads per day.
Start small, then scale up. Once you’ve locked in your lead to meeting ratio you’re ready to scale your campaign. Think about how many new clients you want per month, then back into the number of meetings you need to close one client. If you want 4 new clients and close at 20%, then you’ll need 20 new meetings per month. If you’re booking 20% of interested replies into meetings, then you’ll need 100 interested replies. Apply your 1:300 interested lead ratio and you’ll need to send 30,000 emails per month. Assuming 20 sending days per month, you’ll need to send 1,500 emails per day. At 15 emails per day per inbox, that is 100 sending inboxes.
Dial in your inbox management system to maximize your conversions. Make sure you're replying to leads within 5 minutes. Bonus points if you call the lead to qualify harder and book them in.
